the men in my home (and a friend) went to the chiefs/packers game on sunday....Boy's DAY.
so....
we declared it GIRLS DAY at home.
the day before i got tickets to the Nutcracker.
we got dressed up.
we did fancy hair dos....
and i painted their nails in christmas colors.
and we went to the ballet.
we made it through most of it with minimal "when is this OVER?" whispers.
the girls begged to go to Krispy Kreme.
i tried to convince them of the goodness of starbucks but they were buyin' it.
it's probably better they not go in there yet...we'll leave it that as a Mommy Place.
not only do i love their donuts....i LOVE their packaging and signage.
fabulous fonts.
then we went to Justice.
they had their own money to spend.
we were there for over an hour.... calgon take me away.
their music is on a short loop and LOUD.
but my girls were so happy.
next stop: the bookstore.
the girls sat and read for a long time.
i found a few books for a few people on my list....
books are always a good gift.
and last stop was the big tree for a picture.
it was such a nice day with my two littlest girlies.
they were sweet to each other and to me.
we enjoyed just being together and being girly.
and the boys got to see the Chiefs win.
i hear that doesn't happen too much so i think everyone had a good day!
...............................................
i keep forgetting to tell you about something!
i am a crafty contributor over at alphamom.com
come see my christmas craft we made for her.
we'll call it christmas craft #4.
:)

LOVE the boots! I'm jealous. Our nutcracker is sold out! Tried to get tickets just last week. Abbe went with school but they didn't show the whole thing like they did when Ruth went and Abbe was disappointed. Am going to have to look into the tickets earlier next year!
Love girls day. Need to have one with my girls soon.

Sooo, when I grow up, I want to be as fashionable as Annie. Seriously! Grey and yellow leopard print, polka dot leggings and sparkly boots? Love!! :)
Great post, Meg!

LOL, I am with the girls on the Nutcracker, it just doesn't end fast enough. :)
My kiddos would have had asked for Krispy Kreme too---although they do enjoy a cake pop or whoopie pie from Starbucks. maye too much since my youngest just asked me today if I would take to Starbucks before Christmas so he could get a Christmas treat.

Awesome pictures and just went to Alphamom to check out the craft. Love it! My daughter would be all over the Starbucks. Not sure if that's such a good thing though.

looks like a fun time.. my mom and i went to the nutcracker together for years and i look forward to starting up again when my little ones are old enough to join us. how fun too that you have the book "if you give a dog a donut" in a picture - it's a Christmas present for my donut loving 3 year old this year. merry christmas!

How fun...I must admit I'm a bit envious, I wish I had daughters to go do girly stuff with. :-(
Happy Holidays!

I'm distracted now. The chocolate covered custard filled doughnut is my favorite. It's calling my name.

Lovely photos! I must say that I find refuge at Justice after a trip to A&F or Hollister with their loud music, dark lighting, and overdone cologne smells.
Looked like a perfect day.

Looks like a perfect day! My girls and I did the same thing weekend before last (even Krispy Kreme :) It was their first time to see the Nutcracker. They were totally swept up in it. Wonderful memories!

LOVE the girls day, but SERIOUSLY, the Chiefs beat the Pack and broke the streak. AWESOME.

As a veteran employee of Justice, I can attest to the loud/repetitive music. Some days I can tune it out just fine, but other days I want to rip my hair out!

Looks like a great day! We took our 3 girls (6,7,13) to see the Nutcracker last weekend in Omaha-the Aspen-Santa Fe ballet company. I highly recommend them if they are near you. They had special effects! Kept them all entertained! We are former Kansans, now in Nebraska, so all to aware of the Chiefs issues! Just glad my dh can usually catch a game on tv. Will be back in KS for Christmas! Merry Christmas and thanks for your blog! I love to read it--keep waiting to see if you photograph any families we might actually know!

I happened to stop by your website from Pinterest and I'm so excited to see a CHIEFS family!!! I'm from And live in Kansas City and my house was going crazy to see the Chiefs pull off the win against the Packers. Love your site!

I love the hairdo! It's so neat and girly! ;) Whenever I have a girls' day out with my daughter, I always make sure that she enjoys each and every moment that we're talking and playing. And I see to it that I capture those priceless smiles in photographs. :) BTW, I love their boots!
