christmas finds

about two weeks ago i scored big at the thrift shop.
it was so fun to find my favorite things...for about half the price!
 

 
vintage ornaments...with the boxes.
a santa.
a vintage christmas dish towel.
old silver garland.


antique ornaments with sweet little details.
and my santa mugs...for 50cents each! 
they are always over $4.
and there were 6 of them....oh happiness.
  


inside that little clear bell is a tiny plastic deer...with snow....sweet.

having gotten a cold (that i think is nearly gone) and leaving town for thanksgiving
AND having started a new business this year....
christmas is feeling a little less fancy this year.
but i hope that changes.

i am getting so close to finishing up with my picture editing.
that is so exciting to me.
because when i am done...i can make christmas crafts...and a gingerbread house...and wrap presents
and make cookies...and put glitter on stuff.
almost there.

you know how when you have a high.....

there has to be a low?
 
that is where i am now.
i had this perfectly lovely weekend where i got to travel with my friend and talk out my feelings
with someone who gets me...like really gets me.
i got to be creative and work with my hands and mind for two days straight.
i met so many kind women who share creative passions.
i got to shop and shop.
i got to sleep and be away and off the clock.
i turned off my cell phone.

and then i came home.

and it was so nice....hugs and love and "oh mommy i missed you so much"

and then there was the next day.
the fighting children.
the drama.
the hurtful words and yelling of teenagers.
the laundry.
the mess.
dinner to be made.
 
crash.
 
it is always hard to come home and find that balance between
where your heart was and where reality is.    

did i depress you?
i'm sorry.
i just wanted to be honest since i told you i was on a happiness high...
and being real to tell you that i am now feeling a reality LOW.

the completely gray skies don't help either.

i feel a little better already just by writing out how i'm feeling.
relief.

let's change the subject shall we?

it was dreamy.

cowboy boots.

all worn in...soft and comfy.
:)

i have put my violin away
and i am ready to stop whining.

i will keep working on pictures...
give hugs when they are needed...
and smile at my kids.

i will think through my weekend when i have time to do that.
  
and i will make choices of what i will bring into my everyday life...

and what needs to wait for the next season of life.

but right now...i need to think about what to make for dinner.

entertainment

i had the best entertainment for 3 women coming to visit...  

shopping!

we spent the night at carolyn's (my happy place) so we could get shopping much quicker in the morning.

it was a gorgeous morning....

we had happy baby janey by our side and we were ready to shop.
our destination was the hillsboro arts & crafts fair...a yearly event the 3rd saturday of september.
rain or shine...thankfully this year it was SHINE!
i love the craft fair booths but i also think the antique stores in town are great too.
we found all kinds of treasures.

all three women bought the locally famous granny's mustard...craig would have been so proud. 

lunch was all kinds of yumminess...funnel cake...tater twisters...noodle soup...homemade pie...mmm!
we had lots of girls shopping and eating together.

and we found some not-so-special treasures.

if you are looking for a birthday gift for julie...she really wanted that angry bear wall hanging.
ha ha ha ha ha

at the end of the craft fair my friend kerry called me and said "you HAVE to come to this barn sale!"and i was so happy my guests wanted to go too.
we followed homemade signs down a gravel road to what i will now call my dream world. 
it was everything i love and ten times more.

do you see why i was in love?
when i went into the first barn...of the three....i almost cried....i am not kidding.
i have been looking for THIS since i moved to kansas.  
i didn't think it was here.

i felt like i was on a junk buying high.  

buzzed on rust and chippy paint.  :)

here is my take away from a day of craft fair bliss.
