so yesterday while we were at the indoor pool it was raining again for the fourth day (? i think) in a row.
but it was REALLY raining hard.
i decided we needed to go home becuase of the creeper couple that came to the hotel pool and was not going to stop making out even if we were in the room.
driving home was NUTS.
everything was flooded.
my kids were yelling and so excited!
Annie yelled "THIS IS AWESOME!!!!"
i yelled back "NO THIS IS NOT AWESOME! EVERYONE CHILL OUT! I NEED TO DRIVE SO WE DON'T CRASH!"
i don't think i had ever driven in that kind of rain?!
we made it home and so did Mr. Duerksen...on a sand road?!
but then after dinner we went out to look around and this was our road!
in the middle of that is a deep creek... so there was no driving through that.
we messed around a little while in the shallow side of it.
then we decided we should probably go to the Craft House out the other way in case we got more rain that night and the other creek would flood.
better to be out than stuck.
so everyone rushed around to grab clothes and snacks and games to entertain ourselves.
we fed the chickens and kitties.
we loaded in the car.
we were drenched from the rain.
it took us probably 20 minutes to get out the door.
i backed out of our driveway... drove 20 feet.... too late.
the other end of the road was as deep or deeper.
oh my.
we were trapped in our own home.
we went inside, soaking wet and bummed out and then decided to make the best of it.
we watched Home Alone and ate ice cream sundaes.
i mean... that is the logical thing to do?!
in the morning the creek had receded back off the road but still up to the tippy top of the bridge.
we were able to get out for the day and everything is fine.
such an adventure!
i love it!
but now we know that if we need to get out... we need to BE QUICK.
it was a good lesson.
annie was told she could go about 10 feet but she thought i said it was 10 feet deep.
it was... just not where she was.
now i am ready for a little sunshine.
it IS summer ya know???
change is fun too i guess.
imagine all the frogs and turtles we'll find now!
