now that it's summer....i have to try even harder to be active personally.
it's easy to go go go for the kids but with everyone home all day there isn't much time for me.
Degree motionSENSE has a challenge on their facebook page called Get into the Move.
Degree Get into the Move Facebook app
The program is encouraging us to share our fitness goals & to encourage our communities to stay active.
By registering for the Degree Women “Get into the Move” application on Facebookor on mobile devices,
fans can start earning motionMILES, virtual currency redeemable towards chances to win thousands of prizes.
These motionMILES are earned for various ways women move, including checking in with Facebook places and
logging activities.
Earning motionMILES is easy - eligible activities include going to the gym, taking Zumba® or yoga classes and
various other activities women already do, like grocery shopping or catching the bus.
Fans can also earn motionMILES by answering daily trivia questions the Facebook application,
inviting friends to “Get into the Move,” and even logging in daily.
Once you sign up, you earn points that you can then redeem for things like
designer shoes, Zumba classes, and even a trip to Hawaii, surfing lessons
and all.
i am setting a few goals to get myself in the move.
i have one goal for me and one goal for my family.
for ME: workout while my kids are in swimming lessons.
i have told myself i am running three miles 3-4 times a week.
for the family: ride our bikes anywhere we can....to the pool, the library and just for fun.
i have the opportunity to try Degree Expert Protection MotionSENSE deoderant.
it's new!
it has micro capsules that are motion sensitive.
when you move it starts working...not just when you sweat.
this keeps you fresher longer!
i am excited to see how it works for me.
it comes in three different scents. i am trying the fresh energy! i like the way it smells on me.
so tell me please....How do you stay active in your home?

The best way to stay active is get the kid involved! I've been walking with my kids (while they ride their bike) for a hour a day and they love it. It just feels good to get moving! Thanks for a chance to win!

The kids ride bikes almost every evening on our street. Summer brings hiking and biking in the mountains. I take a Kettlebells class 2 days/week and absolutely love it!

Staying active has become such a fun focus for me over the last several months. I've started tennis lessons from our rec department, late evening walks with my hubby after the kids are in bed, treadmill walking, swimming WITH the kids, gardening...anything to get moving because an absolute workout schedule that must be kept each week is just not happening with my busy family.
Posted by: Elizabeth Flowers | 06/22/2011 at 11:00 AM
I Zumba!! Yay. And chase the grandkids, play with the grandkids, garden, mow the yard, and whatever else I can do to stay active! :)
Posted by: Sandy | 06/22/2011 at 11:00 AM
I do a bootcamp and Pure Barre. And, take my beagle for walks.
Posted by: Heidi | 06/22/2011 at 11:00 AM
With baby on the way, walking has been my main exercise. Excited to try this new deo too! :)

It's too hot to do things outside during the day (and I have yet to clean out the kiddie pool and make it useable), so the boys and I dance, do work out videos together, and chase each other around the house. It works. :)
Posted by: keely | 06/22/2011 at 11:05 AM
I try and do a workout video 3xs a week. The kids sometimes do part of it with me which helps. It's too hot here in the summer, but in the winter we walk all the time. I wish we could walk to stores, but they are all too far.
Posted by: sarah | 06/22/2011 at 11:06 AM
I mostly chase our kids around, then I pack and haul equipment and entertainment to all the kids games. We also do a lot of swimming, and sweating in the sun ;)
Posted by: Jessie | 06/22/2011 at 11:08 AM
I have just started the TurboFire series and love it. I also get out for a 2mile run a few times a week. If is is later I push my toddler in the stroller and my oldest rides his bike. As a family we love to play soccer on the front lawn.
Has taken me a while, but I think I finally love exercising.
Posted by: Meredith Salmon | 06/22/2011 at 11:09 AM
I struggle with staying active. It is so humid where we live that it's tough to be outside during the day. I am trying to walk at least 3-4 days a week. I am also trying to make my family stay active by going to the park or walking with me.
Posted by: Tracie | 06/22/2011 at 11:10 AM
My boys aren't out of school yet, but when they are, I'm going to let them sleep an extra hour while my husband's still home and get out and walk. I've slacked off for the last few months...it's time to get back on the wagon...errr...walk next to it!
Posted by: Libby | 06/22/2011 at 11:10 AM
I'm using the couch to 5K program to run in my first 5K since my son was born (I've since had a daughter too....so it's been a while)!

It's all about the Wii and our pool!! Especially since we experience highs of over 100 degrees in So.GA.
Too many people having heat strokes lately and I don't want to be one of them! lol

We have been swimming a lot and I always feel better after a bit in the pool. It is way too hot to be outside here (103+)so anything inside or in the pool is good. I also like to do workout dvd's.
Posted by: April | 06/22/2011 at 11:23 AM
Jillian's 20 minute work out! JUST 20 MINUTES! I spend that on blogs...or flipping channels, or looking at a magazine. No excuse to not do it. Luke always joins in for the cool down!
And I just so happened to have just gotten back from Target with a new BIKINI. Jillian man. It works :-)
And if Nick is home earlier enough, I go for a run..
can't wait to hear if you smell or not...!

Meg, I run and swim. I sweat alot while running, and quite honestly I have not been to happy with my deodorant, not working as well now that its warmer here, so I will give this a try. Thanks for the wonderful tips :)

I'm not sure there's a way to be less active at home. We're constantly doing the run around here & there. Although, at night I really enjoy doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Gets me to work through a wider range of activities.

I don't have to do much other than chase my three year old around. He keeps me on my toes and VERY active!

I saw this deodorant in one of my magazines and am so excited to try it out. Since we live in the middle of nowhere, we like to take walks anywhere we can...mostly the post office and park. It gets there wiggles out and I feel a lot better afterwards too.

I try to work out (WII fir/or execise ball CD) 20 to 30 minutes every morning..(6 days a week). I started this about 3 months a ago and am down 25 pounds..by doing it every morning I know I get it done, and that way if I am energetic later in the day, I can go a for a long walk at night!
Posted by: Erin | 06/22/2011 at 11:57 AM

Posted by: Donna | 06/22/2011 at 12:13 PM
Haha - I love that you can earn motionMiles by grocery shopping or catching the bus...as that would be the extent of my "staying active". That and walking about 17 jillion miles a day just doing errands and chores around the house!
Posted by: valerie | 06/22/2011 at 12:16 PM
My husband is a Zumba instructor so I go to his classes whenever I can. I'm not very good at it so I make him teach me the routines ahead of time!

How do I LIKE to keep active?
I don't like to, but I have to.
Jillian Michaels and the treadmill.
At least the treadmill doesn't want to bite me.

Treadmill, Spinning on my Spin Bike in the basement always glad when that 45 minutes is done.
Posted by: Michele | 06/22/2011 at 12:22 PM
Zumba (I'm obsessed!) and Body Pump classes...at least 3x/week for Zumba and a couple time for body pump (early winter I had it up to 7x/week between the two classes...spring and summer killed it, so I'm working back up to it now...
I finally picked up the Zumba for Wii too, for those really bad days that I can't get to the gym...

I walk and swim for exercise. And garden. And hang laundry. And chase my little people. =P Our yard is three acres and it's a 1/4 mile just to get to our mailbox. So we are on the move a lot! Right now though I can't do any major exercise though since I'm expecting our fourth and I have to take it kind of easy. Thanks for such a nice giveaway!

I have a 10 year old daughter and an autistic 8 year old son, plus my husband, myself, two dogs, four cats, a goldfish tank and a parrot. I am never sitting still! If I'm not out running errands or hauling kids or animals to the doctor, I'm running around the house like a madwoman, trying to keep it presentable. It's a losing battle, but it keeps me busy!
Posted by: Chantel | 06/22/2011 at 12:58 PM
I do Jillian Michaels dvds in the morning. She just about kills me. I do it with the sound down and instead playing a favorite cd :-) If I get up early enough I can do it in peace, but if I wait too long then I have one of the kids needing something or the 3 year old trying to do it too or the dog loping around getting in the way. So I try to get up early but sometimes you just do what you have to do! We also like to take kids on bike rides and lots of walks in the summer.

I try to stay active by taking a nature walk after work with my 1 year old daughter, or hopping on our new bikes, complete with baby trailer and going until our legs are numb. It's easy in the spring and summer, and not so much in the fall and winter. (We live in MI)...
